MSPI and eating out
Cooking at home is ultimately the best option. But if you do need to get away or are on the road there are resources out there. most chains have an allergy listing online. Her are a few:
MSPI Mama on facebook has a great list. Go to the "discussion" icon on the left, then to "restaurants"
https://www.facebook.com/pages/MSPI-Mama/143245649038335
Red Rodin emailed me their current allergy menu (14 pages!) but it changes monthly. They said the restaurant can print you one when you come in to eat.
Zest Bakery - San Carlos - www.zestbakery.com
BJ's Pizza - I was told they also have an allergy menu upon request

Hump Day
He's still cute blurry, right?
I think we are finally on the other side of the hump. It sure was and uphill battle. We still have bumps in the road but I think we are on our way down to a happy Ryder. I have been incredibly strict with what I eat and it has made a world of difference. I've learned a lot about the many words that mean milk and soy in ingredients. I've also learned that foods you never thought could have milk still can. Salami has milk in it...who knew?
So many mommy friends are going back to work. I met up with Rina and Odin this week before she went back to work. Both boys love putting things in their mouth...even eachother! I don't thing either realized what was going on.
Ryder is really using his hands now. He used to just knock things off his bumbo tray. But this week he really started to pick things up and play with them. He does the same in his carseat with his plastic rings. He even fell asleep with his hand around the rings on Monday.
Ryder and I enjoyed a movie last Saturday. We went to see Rio along with many other families with kids. The movie showing was designed for families. They turned down the music a bit and turned up the lights a bit. Ryder and I got to see and hear the whole movie even with that many kids. It was quite a treat!
Jason, Ryder and Raster enjoying their bath. Ryder loves to kick and splash so the sink is totally out of the question now. Last time I bathed him in the sink we had water on the counters, cupboards, floor and on all of my cloths. But Ryder was giggling the whole time!

MSPI
Yes, It has an acronym and everything!
MSPI stands for Milk Soy Protein Intolerance
After seeing a nutritionist last week we started all over again with our diet. She recommended me eliminate all animal milks. So, goat cheese and milk were outa there! That was the only cheese I had been able to eat. She also helped me understand some of the many soy ingredients out there. The only one that she is allowing me to eat is soy lecithin, which is an emulsifier and does not have the protein.
Things we can do for Ryder to help with the uncomfortableness of passing gas:
Chamomile Tea - brewed strong so that you can drop some in his mouth
Cocyntal - homeopathic colic relief
Massage
Probiotics
Tummy time
Bath time
Gas drops (Mylicon and/or GasX Baby) - must be burped up
Gripe water - goes through their system
What I am doing for Ryder:
Probiotics
Calcium
Fiber
Fish oil
Prenatals
No animal milks (cow, sheep, goat)
No soy - only soy lecithin is ok because it has no protein in it

Look at those Baby Blues!
This is just a quick post of a few of my favorite recent pictures of Ryder. I have been much busier lately learning about how to eat differently for Ryder. And I've been dealing with more unhappy time from him. It just kills me to see him in pain! We saw a nutritionist last Tuesday that I really like. So, we are almost 1 week into eating no animal milks and no soy.
Ryder and his beautiful Baby Blues!
