Cake vs Cupcakes - The Verdict

Cake that you can take with you, who needs anything else? How about ten frosting flavors and almost twenty cake flavors....HEAVEN! Our cupcake lady has signature combination like:

Mocha Chip...chocolate chip and espresso cake paired with Mocha frosting-made with freshly brewed espresso! A dessert and your cup of coffee rolled into one!

We are so excited to go to our tasting and find the combination that says US!

Snazzy Tuxes

My man spent the afternoon trying on way too many dress shirts and jackets just for me. He found exactly what he wanted and would not tell me anymore. Very cute that he wanted his outfit secret just like mine was.

I am sure he will end up just as my cousin did, untucked shirt and pants, by the end of the night. It is the time and thought that went into it that counts :)

Good to know for those out of town weddings - with Mens Warehouse you can pick up and drop off your rental at any of their many locations. Also, if you get on their mailing list after trying dresses at Davids Bridal, you might get a great coupon for a free tux, like we did.

DIY Invitations - Final Version

We are SO proud of how these turned out. This is a scan of the invitation and it truly doesn't do it justice. We purchased the envelopes, paper, vellum, ribbon and photo corners (not pictured) in bulk from a local art supply store. We printed the wording and "C" watermark on our home printer. We used our own paper cutter to cut each layer to size.

We took a full evening to assemble each layer one by one with the ribbon. We saved the dreaded photo corners for last. We chose photo corners over vellum tape because you can still see vellum tape and the photo corners gave the corner design we were looking for.

DIY Centerpieces - Take #1

I found my inspiration for this centerpiece online. I purchased submersable led lights online, got a calla lily plant from the market and grabbed a vase and marbles from the shed. Pretty fun colors and atmosphere created from the colored marbles. We want to do three different height vases on the tables to dress them up.

The next question is logistics. Ten tables makes for thirty vases needing a light, marbles, a flower and water. Lord knows I won't be doing these. Will this be a serious mess?

DIY Invitations

Our first real DIY project got underway today. I have been scouring the internet and books to find ideas to inspire our unique wedding invitations. We want classy and stunning and simple with some creativity and "us"ness.

First I sketched out some ideas. Remember I am not the artist in the family! My man's face was priceless and blank as he looked at my drawings. Is that good or bad? He then asked me to explain my vision...here we go. Within minutes we were on his computer and he was sketching. We created what you see here which is very close to what our final invites look like. You can see how enthusiastic he was regarding this by the words "blah blah blah..." on the invitation.
